A March Weekend Recap

I can’t believe I didn’t have time yesterday to give you guys a recap of my weekend – AND this morning my internet was giving me trouble….but here we are… better late than never!

This past weekend was another dreamboat in the weather department. After all the wacky winter weather we’ve had here in NC, I couldn’t have been more excited about sunshine and highs in the 60’s.

I started out the weekend with a GIANT cup of coffee and a morning Pure Barre class. I’m finding that I like to do 5 classes a week, and Saturday morning is ALWAYS killer.

After breakfast, I talked Parrish into going on an adventure with me – a completely spontaneous day of running. I proposed that we drive in to downtown Durham and just see where our running shoes would take us.

No plan – just sunshine.

We ran all over downtown – it was SO NICE to finally get in a training run off the treadmill! Running outside is WAY better than running on a treadmill. After such a long winter, I had forgotten how wonderful it can be!

All that running left us starving, so we ended our run at Geer Street Garden with a well deserved late lunch.

I ordered a Grilled Pimento Cheese on gluten free bread and a salad. I know what you’re thinking…wait a second…those are fries – not a salad. Yep. Just as I placed my order, I found out that the fries at Geer Street are now fried in their own fryer! Safe to eat, So obviously I ordered them.

But that pimento cheese. So. Darn. Good.

On the side, a delicious Durhamite: sweet tea, vodka, and lemonade.

What is more refreshing than a cool drink enjoyed outside on a warm day? (enjoying it on a beach! But anyways…) Parrish and I were enjoying ourselves so much, we decided to walk across the street to Cocoa Cinnamon and share an iced coffee.

Lucky for us, three brothers were set up outside playing bluegrass. It was definitely one of those days that makes me truly love and appreciate the city Parrish and I have chosen to live in. I Love Durham!

After staying out WAY to late Saturday night with friends,

I started Sunday morning off with a BIG cup of coffee.

and then managed to once again talk Parrish in to going out for a run with me. I’m not sure if it was the gorgeous weather, or the promise of a Food Truck Rodeo at the end, but I was so excited to run again with my favorite partner.

Skratch Labs Hydration Mix – it’s basically an all natural gatorade. I love it!

The Food Truck Rodeo at the end of our run was CRAZY:

But it was fun to walk around. We ended up grabbing burgers at Bull City Burger and Brewery. They have Udi’s gluten free buns and I can a burger with pimento cheese, bacon, AND an overeasy egg.

So GOOD!

And that was my weekend. We topped Sunday off with the finale of True Detectives on HBO. Do you watch that show? What did you think of the finale?
