Yesterday’s Water Kefir post is being postponed to next week because I actually have a BIG SURPRISE for you guys! I’m so excited to share it with you!
So today, it’s time for another Fitness Fridays post!
Last week I posted about Energy Bits, and today I want to tell you guys about another Pre-Workout that Parrish and I are absolutely hooked on!
Vega Sport Pre-Workout Energizer
After trying Energy Bits, I realized that there must be other All Natural Energizers available in the market. Some of you are probably like DUH! But I don’t know, I guess I just hadn’t ever really thought about it before.
Perusing the aisles of Whole Foods, I spotted Vega and was impressed by the ingredients.
All Natural and gluten free!
How does it work?
From the Vega Website:
Vega Sport Pre-Workout Energizer is a pre-workout drink mix sporting a unique blend of 13 synergistic plant-based performance-improving ingredients, like green tea, yerba mate, coconut oil and rhodiola, specifically selected to:
- Provide immediate and sustained energy
- Increase endurance, aerobic and anaerobic capacity
- Enhance mental focus and recovery
Featuring two complementary carbohydrates, Pre-Workout Energizer is balanced to provide both instant and slower-burning fuel for your workouts. Organic sprouted brown rice syrup has a high glycemic index (90), entering the bloodstream quickly, while organic palm nectar has a low glycemic index (35), providing slow, steady energy that will not spike or crash.
And the taste…well….. it’s fairly green. The powder comes in a lemon lime and an acai berry. I prefer the lemon lime flavor for sure, but it still doesn’t taste good. I mix it with water and chug it.
How does it make me feel?
Not in a head-buzz chemical-y way, but in a I just drank two cups of coffee and can take on the world kind of way!
I drink it 20-25 minutes before I start a High-Intensity workout, like Zumba or a sprint/jog track workout.
It definitely gives me more energy to sustain my workout. In the past, by the 40 minute mark in Zumba I would start feeling ragged, but not with Vega.
I don’t take it before my morning workouts; I feel like I’m able to perform in the morning. But after a FULL DAY of work, it’s the perfect boost to help me get in a good workout!
The first time I took it, I did a track workout BEFORE a Zumba class. Yeah…
I torched those calories.
I’m excited to have Vega as an option for days when I’m pooped for work but still want to workout in the afternoon. And Parrish loves it! He uses it in a similar way, when he heads to the gym after work.
It’s not cheap, but I was able to get it on Vitacost for WAY LESS than Whole Foods. We’ll see how long the canister lasts, that will give me an idea of the cost per use.
Now, I’m off to the gym! Friday morning means it’s time for INTENSITY at the Y! Good thing I just finished a GIANT cup of iced coffee!
