Beers, Bulls, and a GIANT Slip and Slide

Well friends, this is it! The last week of my summer session at UNCW. I honestly can’t believe how quickly this summer has flown by and that by this Saturday I will have completed HALF of my requirements (6 classes) in just two short months!

If you’re in college, I highly recommend taking summer classes! While intensive, it’s so much cheaper than regular semester and if your teacher is annoying you only have to be around them for one month!

This past weekend I travelled home to Durham to rest and recharge before my last big week. AND I kidnapped MOH and brought her home with me. Alex is not only my best friend, but she’s Parrish’s too, so we always have a great time together.

Saturday we lounged by the pool and then hit up Geer Street Garden for an early supper before heading to the ballpark.

Geer Street is one of my favorite restaurants in town for gluten free dining! The owner’s wife has Celiac, so they are incredibly knowledgeable AND they always have an ice cold Redbridge waiting!

It was a steamy muggy day on Saturday, so this beer really hit the spot. For my meal I enjoyed a tomato, cucumber, and avocado gluten free sandwich with basil mayo and a salad with the most delicious vinaigrette.

Sadly you can’t eat the french fries at Geer Street because their fryer is shared and over half their menu is fried tomatoes, pickles, and fried chicken. But the salad was great and I think I’ll survive one meal without french fries!

After a great supper we headed to the ballpark to watch our favorite team: The Durham Bulls!

MOH and Parrish were sportin’ their team spirit!

Even though it was hot and steamy outside, our seats were nice and cool because we were under the overhang and DIRECTLY underneath a GIANT fan! Seriously, I sort of needed a cardigan – that’s how cool it was.

Unfortunately, the game ended up being delayed by rain but we still had a great time! Hanging out outside without sweating balls in the middle of the summer is always fun. By 9:15 the game did end up being called off, but we didn’t care. We still had fun…and peanuts!

We also had a strong desire to rush the field and slip and slide on the rain tarp…

but we didn’t want to get banned for life. You guys know you would have done it with me!

Happy Monday! Did you have a great weekend? Is it steamy hot where you are? Did you cool off with a Redbridge? Tell me all about your weekend Smile
