Ummm….seriously yesterday?
Did I write an entire post (and link to a previous post) about how excited I was that it was…MARCH 1st?!?!
And you know what?
I honestly thought it was March 1st until I saw that first comment roll in. Sheesh. Not too smart over here.
Yes. Yesterday was a HARD day. Tough. Rough. Not Good.
However, now that part is over and I’m trying to adjust and make peace with everything now. I can’t wait to tell you guys what has been going on, but that post will have to wait until Monday. Thank you for the space and understanding; the comments and emails of encouragement, perspective, and prayers have really helped! I’m not through the hardest part, but I know I can make it through.
For today, I just wanted to tell you about something that’s not STUPID from a company that isn’t a DUMMY and would never forget an entire month…
I used to love Chick-fil-A previous to my Celiac diagnosis. Chicken mini anyone? And I’ll admit that out of all the fast food, I’ve missed them most.
Well, miss no more!
Introducing their NEW grilled GLUTEN FREE chicken nuggets on their kid’s meal. Here’s what Chick-fil-A has to say on the matter:
Introduction of Grilled Nuggets: These gluten-free Grilled Nuggets are made from a boneless, skinless breast of chicken tumbled in a salt and pepper spice blend and then grilled to perfection. The four count is only 80 calories and 1 gram of fat, while the six count contains 110 calories and 1.5 grams of fat.
How’s that for an on the go meal option?!
And yes, yes you can follow that up with a side of waffle fries! Here is there complete list of gluten free items (the nuggets are brand new, and not yet on the list):

And while they don’t have a gluten free prep area, you can totally ask the kitchen to change their gloves. Plus, who knows. If they get enough feedback and thanks from the gluten free community, they just may make a prep area a priority!
THANK YOU CHICK-FIL-A! I’m going to celebrate this great achievement by going to get myself a kid’s meal with a fruit cup!

I am so conflicted. Because of Chik-fil-A's support of anti-gay organizations ( http://news.change.org/stories/yes-chick-fil-a-says-we-explicitly-do-not-like-same-sex-couples), my husband and I have covenanted to not support them (I don't say "boycott." I know I'm not hurting Chik-fil-A). After reading this announcement last week, I've turned my car in that direction several times, but the thought of my husband's disappointment turns me back home to make my own.
That's a very valid point Michele; you do have to think about what you are ultimately supporting when you spend your money with companies. On the other hand, this new shift in fast food could certainly spread to other chains as well!
I'm certainly not an advocate for fast food, but I am an advocate for gluten free food being readily available.
Chick fil a was the one fast food place I always liked (I'm a minis fan too) and that is probably one of the foods I have missed the most. I am looking forward to trying the grilled nuggets - I bet with the polynesian sauce the missing breadcrumbs will be barely noticed :-)
The grilled nuggets are awesome & they aren't only in a kid meal ..just fyi I go there & get the 8 piece grilled nugget meal w/large tea & sides of fries.!!!! YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM...
Ditto to Michele's comment. But I'm also stoked because it may influence other chains.
Also, it totally made sense to me that yesterday was March 1st...I didn't realize it until you said something! haha.
Oh my goodness, I'll have to pass this along to the celiac in the family as Chik-fil-A is her ultimate have, too.
I hope you have peace as you go through this difficult time. Prayers.
The nuggets are really good! My local chick-fil-a started offering them on request before they officially hit the menu! I love to have a fast food place that is safe in emergencies!
I was wondering about that March 1st! But I've been having a weird week (I'm one day ahead of the calendar) so I didn't think much of it.
I've never had Chick Fil A. They just opened a couple stores in Chicago, so I might check them out, but I don't really eat fast food. I know a lot of people rave about this place though, so if I happen to pass by one when I'm hungry, I'll pop in for a kid's meal. :)
