iOS5–GHM’s 5 favorite apps

With the exciting launch of the new iOS5, I thought I would share with you guys what my top 5 favorite iphone apps are right now. And you can share in the comments section what yours are, and then hopefully by the end of the day, I can fill all my empty memory with new fun apps!

1. MyFitnessPal

A few weeks ago I tweeted, asking for recommendations for a calorie counter app. My friend Loren responded with what is now my new FAVORITE app! It has a HUGE database of foods already entered. I was so shocked to find Udi’s whole grain bagels already entered. I’ve been using it for a week, and I haven’t had to enter in a new food yet! Although my Organic Neufchatel wasn’t in the system, it has the exact same nutritional content of the Philly 1/3 less fat, so I used that entry for now.

And using the app, you can even just scan a barcode of an item and poof! it’s entered. Which is what I did for my delicious Crispin cider last night!

PLUS it tracks your exercise too! You decide in your settings if you are trying to lose weight or maintain. If you’re trying to lose, then you decide how much you’re trying to lose, and it tailors your optimum calorie intake to reach that goal.

Don’t have an iphone? Well this app is a website too!

2. Instagram

I don’t know what it is about this app, but I’m completely hooked! I love getting to see other people’s pictures throughout the day.

This is by far my most favorite “I’m waiting in a line and I’m bored app”. My Instagram name is glutenhatesme; let’s be picture buddies!

3. Pinterest

I have said it before, I’ll say it again: I LOVE Pinterest! While the app isn’t nearly as good as using the website, it’s still fun to scroll down through my most recent pins. Want to be board buddies? Follow me on Pinterest here!

4. Hanging Free and Words Free

It’s an absolute tie! I LOVE both these games. Although I don’t always agree with their logic:

they’re still a bunch of fun!

5. Eat St.

Here in Durham, we have TONS of food trucks; from ice cream to pizza, burgers to crepes, Korean BBQ and dumplings: we have it covered! This app allows you to search on a map for where food trucks are…right at that moment!

And then you can even click on a particular cart, for example: The Parlour, Durham’s yummiest ice cream truck. One click and it takes you to their twitter stream:

But you can also view their menu and hours!

Love it!

So let’s hear it! What are your top FIVE favorite apps? Droid apps too!
