Sugar Dumplin’

Don’t miss out on the fun details from this past weekend!

She’s a Brixx house

My bestie sister really is my biggest cheerleader. She always makes sure that there is something I can eat, whether it’s a holiday meal or a quick lunch. She’s always been super thoughtful. So it was no surprise when my bestie whipped up a special breakfast this past Saturday…a breakfast that I just can’t stop thinking about!

Praline Biscuits…minus the pralines..and the gluten. Let’s called them Sugar Dumplins’

This magazine clipping is over 20 years old! My sister snagged it from my Mom, and has made them twice: once with gluten and then gluten free. Just switch out the Bisquick with gluten free Bisquick and you’re good to go!

The dough soaks up the melted butter with cinnamon and sugar while it bakes. The center is doughy and moist, while to outside is crystalized and sweet.

I’ve been thinking about them so much, that I was going to make a batch this morning but we’re out of GF Bisquick! Good thing I’m heading to the store right now!

Oh, those do look good! Wish we had the Bisquick mix here, that would make them super simple to make.

Do you think Pamela's pancake mix would work? I have tons of it, and I don't want to buy Bisquick until I've used it all.

Kathleen- I think it's worth a try! I'm not sure if it being a "baking" mix matters. If you try it, let me know the results!

Do you have to make any adjustments to the GF Bisquick mix when using in this recipe? (the ingredients of regular Bisquick has some shortening in it I believe). These look really yummy, just might take care of that cinnamon roll craving. Thanks for sharing.

Yum! Looks great! Do you think they would be good with cinnamon applesauce?

Anon- I make no adjustments with the GF Bisquick. I did find that when mixing it I had to add a splash more milk but that was all!

Amy- cinnamon applesauce would be SO GOOD!!!

I'm making 1/2 the recipe and the dough is crumbly like little pebbles so I'm going to add more milk and applesauce. The topping sure is tasty!

I wish I had read your comment about adding a splash more milk. Mine turned out to be praline crumbs..lol.

I thought these were awesome! I used cinnamon applesause and a splash more milk as they were crumbly. But they turned out amazing - I can't even tell they are gluten free!!!! Thanks to you and your sister!! This is a recipe I am KEEPING!
