So it seems that it only took ~2 1/2 years of watching me blog, for Parrish to catch the blogging bug!
While he’s not blogging about food…I know right??…he is blogging about something that is important to him: being an advocate for change in his community.
For the past 5 years, Parrish has worked with youth to help educate other teens on the real issues with tobacco and to spread tobacco prevention. His team in Wilmington ultimately helped a local restaurant go smoke free!
He worked hard and is now starting a new grant funded program, where his youth chose their goal: to get school based health centers started in their community.
Parrish and I both believe in the non-profit model, and for that reason we traded in our pay checks a long time ago! But in all honesty, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Helping people is much more rewarding at the end of the day, and creating a community is priceless.
So, I would love to take a break from our normally scheduled programming of gluten free foods and healthy lifestyle, and give Parrish’s a blog a shout out!
