Bad Break-up

Dear Whole Foods,

Are you mad at me?

I am so confused. I can’t believe you’re breaking up with me…we’ve been together for so long. In the good times and the bad; in the gluten times and the gluten free times. I’ve been there…spending way over my grocery budget, to make our relationship work.

I played your games…I bought the frozen loaf of gluten free bread from the freezer for over six dollars. I made it work. I felt okay with our arrangement. The arrangement where I pay WAY TOO MUCH money for frozen bread, and you offer me inexpensive 365 brand gluten free mixes that work great!

Gluten Free Calzones

Gluten Free Pancakes

Gluten Free Lemon Pound Cake

Gluten Free Pizza

Gluten Free Brownies

Gluten Free Muffins, Cornbread, and Cookies!!

I can’t believe you didn’t even tell me to my face…I had to hear about our break-up through a friend. I thought we had more than that. I know I’ll get over it. And who knows, maybe you’ll make it up to me. Or maybe it will just take…time.

Love- Gluten Hates Me

In case you haven’t heard, Whole Foods has discontinued the 365 brand gluten free mixes. Sadness.

I hardly ever shop at Whole Foods, but I am in love with Udi's gluten free frozen bread (and pizza crust, and muffins...) I have noticed on their facebook page that they are starting to sell their products at more and more WF locations. I hope you are able to find some! I think it is better than the WF frozen bread.

As for the mixes, I am really sad!!

Everyday I hear more about gluten intolerance & they discontinue these? Doesn't seem smart. Hoping something similar is offered more mainstream soon.

Hey!! It isn't as close by as Whole Foods but you might want to step into Earth Fare (@ Brier Creek) to shop around for gluten-free mixes and other items. We have a huge selection and it keeps getting bigger. Sorry that Whole Foods let you down!

The crazy thing about it is, if this is a decision based on numbers, it still doesn't make sense. I understand that each product on the shelf needs to "pull it's own weight", but with there still being 90% of the U.S.'s celiac's being undiagnosed, I'd say we were still on the front end of a huge food trend. Coming from a business standpoint, I would say now is more of a time than ever to invest in GF foods?!?!

April I love you LOL. Great post.

Hmmm...my only hope is that maybe they are going to reformulate/come out with a new gf line. Otherwise they are really stupid!

Preaching to the choir, but... Shop Local! ;-)
I can't believe they are discontinuing their 365 brand! That was the only brand I could afford there!

That SUCKS. I was always so jealous when you made stuff from Whole Foods gluten free line, (since here in the 'country' we don't get such fancy fare.) Lame-o, and weird. I mean, gluten allergies seem to be more ubiquitous than ever. Why would they discontinue that line now? Sorry, April.

Arrrghhh! This is horrible news but I'm so grateful to you for posting about it and letting us all know. The mixes are affordable and delicious and have been a great crutch since finding out I have celiac. I just went to Whole Foods and stock piled some of my favorite boxes. Thanks for the heads up!

Hey! I have good news for you. My friend Kim received a comment from Whole Foods on her blog regarding the 365 brand items. You can read it here: http://ow.ly/16HGik
