Dark Chocolate dipped Strawberry (oats)

This morning I woke up to thunderstorms! And now, two hours later it’s blue skies! Wacky Wednesday weather! I’m in my second week of my holiday schedule, and while I don’t love getting home around 8:45 at night, I’m really enjoying going in at noon. The past three days I’ve even been able to squeeze in time on the treadmill!

But this morning, I decided to shorten the time on the treadmill, so that I could make a tasty bowl of oats for breakfast!

Whipped Strawberry Oats with Dark Chocolate yogurt and S’moreables snow

To make this bowl, I cooked up 1/3 cup oats with 1/3 cup water, 1/3 cup Silk Vanilla Light Soymilk, and 3 strawberries, diced on medium heat and whipped. To make the Dark Chocolate yogurt, I melted 5 dark chocolate chips and then whipped the sauce into Stonyfield Farms French Vanilla Yogurt. And then I topped it with one S’moreables square crushed.

T-A-S-T-Y!!! :) This bowl was really good. Not as good as this bowl, but still very tasty!

I LOVE S’moreables! I don’t love the nutrition facts, which is why one bowl of oats only gets ONE square! And for those gluten free gals who rock the casein free lifestyle (Michelle!!):

Oh Yeah!! They are are! Would these be Good Eatah approved?

SO many, many months ago I started a sister site, Gluten Free Bride to Be, where I could blog about my upcoming wedding and all my planning. And I posted two..maybe three times!! And after much thought, and a Triangle Food Blogging Mafia consultation, I’ve decided to cancel gluten free bride to be, and just post my wedding happenings here. If you guys end up hating it and rolling your eyes, we can revisit. :)

SO, we’ve actually come a long way in planning! Parrish and I are doing all the planning ourselves, with the help of family and friends! I won’t bore you guys with all the details at once, but there are two pretty big pieces we’ve been working on.

Wedding Website!

I’ve been building this website for a few months, just a few hours a month. And I’m really pleased with how it’s coming! I have a bit more work on the About the Couple page. I really just don’t know how to word any of it without sounding cheesy. Should I just skip it all together?

Save the Dates!

Parrish and I decided that we’re going to send Mix CD’s as our save the dates. We bought the packaging and the blank CD’s. The playlist is almost finalized, and now I’m just working on the art work for the sleeve with the save the date info. Our playlist possibilities are:

Play List – Southern Fried Love 2010

  1. “You & Me” – Dave Matthews Band
  2. “Walk the Line” – Johnny Cash
  3. “How to See the Sunrise” – Ben Solee
  4. “Fix You” – Coldplay
  5. “Lovin’ in My Baby’s Eyes” – Leftover Salmon
  6. “No One’s Gonna Love You” – Band of Horses
  7. “Another Country” – Tift Merritt
  8. “If it’s the Beaches” – The Avett Brothers
  9. “The Only Answer” – Mike Doughty
  10. Mandolin Orange
  11. “Gold” – Glen Hasard
  12. “Shelter” – Ray LaMontagne
  13. “The Way I Am” – Ingrid Michaelson
  14. “Carry You” – Dispatch
  15. “Wagon Wheel” – Old Crow Medicine Show
  16. “The Book of Love” – Peter Gabriel

  1. The Death Cab song neither of us can remember
  2. “Swallowed in the Sea” – Coldplay

Early in our relationship, Parrish and I used to make Mix CD’s for each other ALL the time! The first song is what we’re going to walk down the aisle to and the 10th band is a local group that’s going to play our reception hopefully!!

I think I also may have found my wedding dress! I’m pretty sure Parrish never reads this blog, but I’ll have to check and be sure before I post!

OKAY, off to primp get ready for work! If I can just peel myself away from the Today show!! I hope you guys have a great day!!

I have never seen those S'moreables before. I am sure they are unhealthy, but it would fab for my children to have S'mores at least once.

I had a box of those smoreables in my hand this afternoon but put them back on the shelf. Only because I already had $16 worth of stuff in my basket (3 items, sigh) and still needed to go to the regular grocery store. I'll get them next time! I LOVE that cd idea, and I also love your playlist!!!

Alex- Ahhh! Yes! Thanks :)

Betsy- The nutrition facts are okay. Like most GF substitutes, the calories are pretty high. But they are SUPER worth it!

Sarah- Yep! I love it! Triangle Food Blog Mafia! Southern Fried was Parrish's idea. I'm running with it.

Jen- I know! They're so expensive!! But, worth it!

Twins- I know! It's getting down to 24 degrees tonight!?!

Gidget- Agreed!
